6 Steps to Growing Leaders: by Deborah Francis

What makes one leader attract other leaders and another only followers?

Some leaders attract other leaders who want to not only do what they are doing, but they have the desire to be and to do more.

Then there are other leaders who are comfortable with having followers. These leaders find followers that look up to them and never help develop these individuals to reach their full potential. In contrast, these followers listen to their leader, follow every step and remain average, thus choosing to be a follower rather than becoming their own leader.

Developing Leaders vs. Followers

If you are a leader that is passionate, leading the charge to change, breaking the path and staying steadfast and true to your dream and vision, you will notice and nurture other leaders emerging from within your team that will do the same.

What about those leader-followers? They too follow their leader and do what is modelled for them.

Sure, you will grow a team, you will earn money, and find fulfilment in your achievements but you will not see the passion and ignite the fire for your team members? Not until you live the passion and ignite your own fire.

You must live it before others will see it and want what you have!

You must lead the change and become a leader with passion, confidence and a belief in yourself, a leader with a self-sacrificing spirit to develop other leaders.

Recognizing this important principle is the first step, in making the change for yourself and your team.

Here is how you can begin to grow leaders rather than leader-followers.

  1. Grow yourself: read a personal development book a week and listen to a productive audio a day.
  2. Be organized: consistent and follow through.
  3. Be authentic: share your challenges, your insights and your celebrations! Be real!
  4. Love yourself, then others! You cannot love others if you do not take care of yourself.
  5. Be an example of confidence and success, whether you feel like it or not.
  6. Keep a telescope on your goals and your vision for your business. Narrow your goals down to the very core and then eat, sleep and ACT on those goals every day! What is at the heart of what you do? What is your heart’s desire? Go after it with everything within you!

Through this journey you will not only change yourself but you are giving a gift to your team by developing other leaders. You have the ability, now put it into action!

4 Steps to “Get It Done” despite Your Busy Schedule

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving and that is your own self. ~ Aldous Huxley

One of the most common complaints in today’s world is that we are just too busy to find time for the things that really matter. We are too consumed by our work and then by our responsibilities for our family and society that we get little time for personal enrichment of any kind. We do not find time to pursue our passion.

However, if we managed things in a better way, we could be able to find time for the things that we like to do. It is all about proper management.

Set Priorities

The Problem: You need to be good at your job and providing for your family, but you struggle to find “me time”.

The Solution: We are not asking you to become selfish, but when you are spending the better part of your day at work and a significant amount of time each day performing your various other obligations, schedule at least an hour every day for your personal development. Remember that improving self is extremely vital.

Your Time is an Asset

Decide what you want to do with your time each day and invest it wisely. Are you going to enrich yourself in some way? You may be planning to do something creative or just become more productive. When you know what you want and you are willing to go after it, you begin to view your time as an asset.

Make a Commitment

Just as you commit to perform all your other jobs, make a commitment to yourself as well. Commit that you will spend at least 1 hour each day enriching yourself. This time could be when you return home from your office or it can be early morning. But, promise yourself that you will spend an hour on self-improvement and stick to that vigorously.

Ask Others

Ask people you trust what changes they want to see in you. Ask them what they think you are good at. Your trusted friends and confidants will tell you the truth about what they want you to do. They will help shape your understanding on how you need to improve on your noted talents.

There is only one you in the world. Take the time to shape and mold yourself to be your very best.

How To Think As Big As You Really Are by: Hasheem Francis and Deborah Francis

We live in an environment where we have been conditioned to think small, simplify our lives and to overall expect and demand less from life. The world tells us that “whatever will be, will be” and that “fate” is in complete control of our destinies. So forget those big dreams, and forget striving for a better life. Be resigned with what you have.

But I am here to declare, “Don’t let the words of others limit your vision. Do and Be YOU!”

I once read somewhere, as an experiment, someone put two advertisements in the newspaper. Both were for the same job with the exact same job description, but one of them offered to pay a salary that was double the one of the other. Strangely, about ten times more people applied for the lower paying job. Yet, the world tells us that there is too much competition for the top spots in life. This experiment clearly disproves that. It’s NEVER ok to settle for an unsatisfying or unpleasant status quo.

People are taught to think small. And that is why they fail. The size of our success is limited only by the size of our thinking. “If you let fear run through you unchallenged, it can prevent you from thinking productively. Big thinking rewards action: always has and always will.

You can have anything you want, but you have to believe that you can achieve it. There is no one who can hinder or stop the firm resolve of a determined soul. The problem with most people is that they believe that there isn’t enough to go around and so they must not take more than their fair share. But, money and success do not run out.  All things are possible to those who believe.

So many people feel trapped in their lives of tiny dreams, of getting by, of constantly craving more and yet thinking themselves undeserving of more. Is this how you want to live your life? Open your mind, your imagination, expand the size of your thinking and your drive for success and get to work. Will there be challenges? Absolutely.  A detour is not a change in the destination. It’s just an alternate route to get there. Keep going! Will people doubt you? Absolutely. When people doubt you, just say: “Father forgive them for they know not what they do. And when you prepare my table in the presence of my enemies, make sure they get the best seat in the house.” Think big and make those dreams happen!

Developing the Power of Belief in Yourself by Hasheem Francis & Deborah Francis

Believing in yourself is essential toward achieving personal success. Without self-belief, we tend to make poor decisions based on self-doubt and fear rather than what is best for us. These decisions may lead to self-destructive behaviour such as working at a job you hate because you believe you can not find a better job, staying in a bad relationship because you believe you do not deserve a better one, and so on and so forth. If you do not believe whole-heartedly in yourself, you will not allow yourself to pursue success.

  1. Visualize success, not failure. Whether at work or at home, train yourself to substitute success thinking for failure thinking. When put in a competitive situation, think “I am equal to the best” not “I am inferior to everyone else. Let the “I Will Succeed” mentality overwhelm the negativity in your mind. Visualizing success conditions your mind to create ways to produce success. Conversely, visualising failure does the exact opposite.
  2. Be your own biggest cheerleader. Look at yourself in the mirror daily and remind yourself that you are better than you think you are. Success does not require super powers or super intellect. Nor is it based on pure luck. Successful people are just ordinary people who believe wholeheartedly in themselves and in what they do. Never short-change yourself.
  3. Believe big. Dreaming big is an important part of achieving success for anyone. The size of our success is only limited by the size of our belief. Often people are scared to think big because they think they are incapable of or do not deserve success. But remember this, BIG Dreamers, BIG Thinkers achieve BIG Results. Do not limit yourself.

Develop the power of belief in yourself by following the three simple tips presented above and watch your life grow in abundance and prosperity. Remember, you can only be as much as what you believe yourself to be.

It Is Time To Slay the Procrastination Monster

Procrastination is a monster that lurks in the lives of every single entrepreneur. It is the enemy of productivity, the number one cause of lost opportunities, and the ultimate killer of momentum.

Therefore, to be able to effectively control your activities and make every second count, it is vital for you to slay that procrastination monster!

Like all other important activities worth doing in life, slaying the procrastination monster is something that requires a huge amount of discipline and willpower, especially at the start.

The master key to doing that, however, is pretty simple. It is to simply start the day doing the activity you dread most. In self-help guru Brian Tracy’s words, “Eat That Frog!”

The rationale behind this method is that once you are done with the most dreaded activity, you would feel such a sense of accomplishment and invincibility that you know nothing else can stop you. You will also gain a huge amount of momentum that will leave you rolling over the rest of your daily activities without delay.

Instead of slaying many procrastination monsters all throughout the day, all you have to do is to slay the king at the start of the day, and the rest of the procrastination minions will automatically diminish in power, or even disappear altogether, making your day much more pleasant, with a much clearer sense of direction and focus.

However, do note that this activity does need some getting used to, as I believe there are people who have successfully slain the procrastination monster and ended up feeling traumatized about all the time they have lost during their life.

Do not underestimate the power of this skill due to its simplicity. Simplicity is where beauty resides! Once you start getting the feel of how to slay that procrastination monster, you will start shaving hours off unwanted shuffling and deliberating, and finally start getting things done in the fastest and most effective manner!
